Taormina: A Sicilian Treasure
Is Taormina your next Italian destination?
We believe that Taormina is one of those unforgettable places you must see in Italy.
Perched on the side of a mountain, Taormina has a strategic position.
From there you can enjoy an amazing view of the coast and of the Etna volcano.
The town is also magic!
Its history reflects in every single corner, offering a fantastic experience.
The most famous monument in Taormina is definitely the Teatro Greco (Greek Theatre).
Built in the 3rd century B.C., it is a perfectly horseshoe-shaped theatre, incredibly well preserved.
Nowadays many shows and concerts take place there: if you have this chance, it will be a lovely experience!
If you want to enjoy a unique view, you can reach the Madonna della Rocca: an ancient sanctuary built in a grotto that overlook Taormina.
An absolutely paradisiac place!
If you want to spend some time on the beach, Lido Mazzarò is the closest: you can reach it taking the funivia (cable car) and enjoy all its amenities.
Not far from there, you can visit Isola Bella, a minuscule island with a nature preserve linked to the mainland with a sandy path.
But don’t forget that the city centre is also spectacular!
Take a stroll in Corso Umberto, the main street that crosses the city centre.
You will be fascinated by the enchanting architecture, the little shops, the lovely bars all around you.
From there, you can reach Piazza IX Aprile with its stunning panoramic terrace: it is so romantic at sunset!
At the far end of Corso Umberto, visit the Cattedrale di San Nicola, a medieval cathedral with a beautiful baroque door.
And if you want to enjoy a quiet and fresh place, go to the Villa Comunale, a public garden where you can even have a nice picnic!
